Congratulations for the success of the first davao bloggers party!

A bloggers’ party held here last week turned into a coming-out party of sorts for the 52 bloggers who showed up at the newly opened NetFront coffeeshop and Internet café. Organizers claimed it was the first blog party outside of Metro Manila.

Mindanaoan tops senatoriable list…

The man is Prospero Pichay, erstwhile Congressman from Surigao del Sur, who by now is invading our TV sets with his Pro-Pinoy ads. read article

However, his huge spending has not translated into votes. Pichay is lagging behind the surveys, as well as most of his partymates from the administration’s Team Unity. read article

What a waste of money. So far all his ads have done is to create jokes such as this: “Mabuti pang itanim ang Pechay sa sinabaw.”

I picked up the Inquirer last Sunday, November 25, and the front page carried an article on Benjaline ‘Beng’ Hernandez and how her mother Evangeline is carrying out the fight for justice for her slain daughter and for all victims of extra-judicial killings in the Philippines.

Beng died four years ago at the age of 22 in Arakan Valley on April 5, 2002 in the hands of paramilitary troops while she was on an investigation on the plight of indigenous peoples.

Her 27th birthday came last November 21. Friends, colleagues, and activists came to Davao Memorial Park to pay tribute through sharing and reading of her poems.

It has been four years since she passed away, yet her memories, and her poems still linger with us.
